In a Hindu marriage there are 7 vows which both bride and the groom takes together for life. This infographic is a simple description of the 7 vows or Saath Pheras which a couple take in a marriage ceremony around the holy fire.

3 things to know about when you are dating a musician

When I married a musician, being a total romantic I pictured everything musical, from waking up in the morning to going to bed on a musical note and not to forget to be the ultimate inspiration for him i.e. muse! But to my surprise (more of shock) nothing which I mentioned earlier actually happened, it was and it still is a test of your nerves, your patience and everything I will be listing below!

Goodbye expectations

No expectation

No expectation

I read this somewhere “First comes gear, then comes beer, then if you’re lucky maybe comes a modestly priced date.” so expectations if you have any, of dating a really cool musician, kill them now!! They are not going to write songs about you (Most probably you’ll hear songs they wrote about their exes), or are going to sing your favourite songs, do a musical flash mob(*sob* I had planned so much!) or just give you the time, cause their love for music is more than anything else! Just be happy you are dating a cool guy, learn something or two, explore and if he is good enough, (Mick Jagger kinda of!) then definitely settle down!

Sleep is when they sleep

Sleep is a luxury

Sleep is a luxury

There were days when I was dead tired and all I wanted was a good night sleep, but that is a luxury now because you only sleep when the musician sleeps. They are going to rehearse that one tune for hours and hour and even after all that, it’ll come out the same freaking way it came out at the first place itself so they are going to practice that for more hours and hours now. And if you are lucky they will pop out of bed in the middle of the night, with a new tune and start making music for hours!

Love their kind of music

Your choice is an option.

Your choice is an option.

If you are not musically inclined then the chances are that you don’t know anything and your kind of music is not up to their level. And no matter how hard you try you can never tune to their frequency. I keep hiding my playlist or don’t listen to it in front of my husband cause I feel that any time he will say something educational about my choice and I will lose the appetite of listening to my music. You can say I am just scared of him like I used to be with my all my school teachers, even if I knew the correct answer I never said it cause I felt maybe they will laugh at me or something.

But these musicians will make sure that you hear and not to forget LOVE their music, maybe it’s good and maybe not your kind of good but you know what, you need to start getting used to it cause it’s not going anywhere!

Always ready for a show

Something embarassing

Something embarrassing

And an extra point to the kitty! They just don’t wait to open up their stuff & start playing/singing! I remember there was an uncle of mine who was a singer and in one of the family gathering we just mentioned that this uncle can sing, and just as our sentence finished, he was already singing, we were giving each other bad looks and somehow managed not to laugh but yes apparently they just need you to say, SING and next thing is that they’ll be singing or playing music!

The list is endless, but for me these 4 sums it all up! And even after all this you still somehow manage to love that musician of yours, you know what? That musician is a pretty lucky fellow for sure!

4 People We Must Avoid AT ALL COSTS.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with” – Jim Rohn

Well, I think it’s more like ten to fifteen. The ten to fifteen people we see the most have the greatest impact on us.

Surrounding ourselves with positive people changes our perceptions. As our social groups encourages, pushes and lifts us up, our own system does the same for them.

Conversely, toxic individuals are completely exhausting to be around. When we surround ourselves with negative people, it will take a toll on our mind and body.

Eventually it seeps in and consumes us. Slowly, we become complainers, judgers, gossipers, and victims.

The distractions and emotional baggage that toxic people bring into our lives are unnecessary obstacles that we must inevitably cross.

We all know a few toxic people – they might be our distant co-workers, family spouses, or our closest friends. Even a…

3 steps to achieve the best results out of anyone

I am not much of into pleasing people but I do like people in general, so whenever I like something in them I tend to appreciate it and hence I come across as people’s pleaser but I genuinely compliment them whole heartedly (maybe sometimes not) But I do observe that in return they do appreciate you too & yes that actually feels nice.  I feel good, I feel energetic & lively. So why don’t we do it on a regular basis? If we practice it frequently then I believe we can definitely achieve good results not out of others but also ourselves!

So here are my 3 steps to achieve the best outcome out of anyone :-

I don’t know why people don’t appreciate each other that often. Even my husband takes time to give me a compliment on my face (I have to ask him to do that) but he often do that behind my back and I am like, if you are complementing me I should at least know about it, if I am not aware of it then what’s the use?

So if someone is doing something good or looking nice, just say it, I know it is not a big thing but they did tried their best to do it. Hence, just for the sake of their effort, appreciate. They feel good about it afterwards (seriously who won’t?), cause you just have made someone’s day! And I know this will come back to you somehow & that will sure make your day too!

People are different. Respect their way of work. Find the good in it and try to add value to what they have not add what they don’t. Respect and accept as who they are and when you do that will help you achieve the best out of them for sure!

Encouragement is so essential for anyone. We think they don’t need it but everyone does, encouragement helps to build faith and loyalty. If I don’t believe in you then why would I encourage you to do it?

These are just simple things, but we hardly do implement them, do we? How many times have you appreciated you mother’s home cooked food? I know sometimes but why don’t we do it daily? She also looks forward to that, maybe cooking food is her duty, so I believe, appreciating it is yours then!

Social Checklist 2015 – Your social networking upgrade

Don’t you want to start afresh every year? Get over with previous years’ poor decisions and start everything on a blank page? So why not start everything on the social media from new leaf too?  If you are thinking what I am thinking, then here is my checklist to a new start of 2015 which might come in handy!

Friend list clean incentive

Clean India is so all over my country right now, so I thought why not reconsider my friend list and get rid of those who I barely know? In cases like mine, there are many whom I just add up for the sake of a request and by the time I realized my friend list was overflowing with people like these, I had no idea why I added them in the first place! By getting rid of them you will not only have a clean home feed…

Plight in the museum

Almost centralized in the city of Lonavala, in the outskirts of Mumbai & Pune city, an Indian celebrity wax museum is located. Unknown to many residing in India as well as in Maharashtra itself, as this museum is not at all talked about or marketed anywhere! Even though I live in Navi Mumbai, I came to know about it’s existence just few days ago when my friends (more of an acquaintances) accidentally landed up there while they were in Lonavla (Actually they didn’t tell me about it as I made this observation while stalking their profiles :P)

From the website (must visit the site) itself I had a feeling that the museum was not going to be anything close to Madam Tussauds as it was cited almost everywhere on the site.

But we made a plan to visit the place on one free evening as it is almost 1 hour away from my place and the locals had mentioned it will be almost a 30 minutes tour (But frankly stating it is less then that if you don’t take the pictures).

Conclusions from the visit

#1 Plan a visit to Lonavla and include this as one of the places to visit on the list. Don’t go for just the wax museum.

#2 It’s a dingy place, I don’t think they clean it up that often as there was layers of dust on the statues, they should put an effort to clean the statues once in a while.

#3 I don’t know why they have put up all the carpets on the wall, that is just increasing the dust in the room and making it look more gloomy and sad.

#4 There are 3 rooms but statues are placed randomly, at least they should keep them according to profession like politicians together, musicians, actors, etc.

#5 Ticket costs around Rs 100 which I think is reasonable but they should also maintain it according to the fee.

#6 Some statues are really good like Narendra Modi, Rabindranath Tagore, Saddam Hussein, Jackie Shroff, Anna Hazare and Kapil Dev which are seriously selfie real!

#7 Some statues are bad as they just look like mannequin from the garment store like Angelina Jolie, Michael Jackson and Charlie chaplain.

#8 The description next to the statue was equally bad once, some of them just have a printout, they need to work so much on their presentation!

#9 Timings to visit the place were convenient from 9 AM to 9 PM

#10 Very limited number of statues with very limited popular ones not much on variety. Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni,  Amithabh Bacchan, etc are upcoming ones (don’t know for how long that upcoming board was put up there on the wall)

#11 There are just 3 small rooms which keep on decreasing in size as you go further inside.

#12 The entire tour will take around 30 minutes max if you are taking pictures and selfies.

#13 Don’t go with expectations as it will ruin your experience!

#14 There was a mandir next to Dada Sahib statue, only in India you see something like that in a museum!

Here are few pictures of the museum I took.

5 tips to start your day with awesomeness

There are so many of us who just hate to get up in the morning and then we just switch on the TV, computer or stick to the mobile screens for hours but guess what? We do this the entire day as well and end up getting bored by the middle of the day! So I think an awesome start is what you need to get through the day, the painless dull way! Here are my 5 tips which might help you with the start you need for an awesome day!

“Good morning”

Greeting is probably the most important thing to start with in the morning! So start off by saying good morning to everyone in your family! I generally kiss and hug everyone cause I like the good energy flowing around us in the morning. I love saying have a nice day to almost everyone on my way to walk in the morning along with good morning. A simple smile can also work as well if you not in to wishing the old fashioned way!

Cup of tea with my parents

I think this is my favourite part in the morning when I sit along with my parents for a nice cup of hot ginger tea. We talk about almost everything and laugh about silly stuff. But even if you are not a tea/coffee drinker, you can make and serve or just sit along with your parents for few minutes in the morning and I can guarantee that probably is one of the most awesome moments of the day for sure!

The Morning walk

I know so many fitness blogs might have described this concept of morning walk in so many ways. But I honestly believe walking in the fresh morning air just recharges your battery instantly! After few minutes’ walk, for just couple of days you will sure realize that morning walks are seriously a really good start to a great day, even though you can walk at anytime during the entire day but when you do it in the morning your entire day passes by blissfully!

I am putting meditation after morning walk because I feel meditation just after a good walk/exercise will defiantly help you focus better and help getting most out of your daily workout! Your workout becomes more effective when it is accompanied by a mediation session after it! There are so many reasons why you should mediate but doing it in the morning sure leaves you fresh for the entire day!

Dodging the TV, newspapers and mobile

Probably TV, newspaper and computer/mobile are the worst enemies in the morning cause if you start using them just to check once, you cannot get rid of them easily and your focus just shifts! I personally take time to go through news or my personal social media in the afternoon as by that time my senses are fully rested and are ready for jabs and punches from all sides!

These are just 5 of the things I love doing in the morning but you need to get up early to add these to your daily routine!  I am an early riser and I also workout in the morning which energizes me all the more! Do share your morning secrets too! I would sure love to know them and add them to mine as well!
